Improving Your Nature Photography
Event Information
Description
Would you like to increase the impact of your nature photography? Photography instructor Vince Lamb is leading a workshop to help people build their outdoor photography skills. The workshop will begin with a presentation at Sams House on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 3 PM until 4 PM. The presentation topics will include light, camera settings, composition and special considerations for photographing wildlife.
A field session will start in the parking area at Pine Island Conservation Area at 7 AM on Sunday, January 13. The group will explore the property to find subjects for photography. We will focus on three types of images – wildlife, natural area landscapes and people in nature. Wildlife availability is always unpredictable; however, we are likely to find some birds and maybe manatees. The salt marsh and waters in early morning light should provide photo opportunities for capturing landscape images. Perhaps our group members will provide subjects as people enjoying the outdoors. We plan to spend approximately 2½ hours in the field session.
This workshop is intended for photographers who have digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and have at least basic skills using the cameras. The field session will include walking perhaps two miles on trails. Please bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent.
The cost of the workshop is $25 per person as a contribution to the Friends of Ulumay to benefit the Sams House educational programs.
