About this event

Research shows that when patients are engaged in their healthcare, it can lead to measurable improvements in safety and quality. Breakdowns in patient safety in primary care are real. Errors in diagnosis, breakdowns in communication, unsafe medication practices, and fragmentation of care all contributed to poor patient safety in ambulatory care settings. During this webinar you will hear about two different Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)-supported resources that share strategies to engage patients in ways that can help improve patient safety.

Presentation Objectives:

  • Describe the threats to patient safety in primary care settings.
  • Describe and discuss strategies to engage patients and families to improve patient safety and diagnostic safety in ambulatory care settings.
  • Discuss approaches to overcome common implementation challenges to patient engagement in safety improvement in ambulatory care settings.
