Event description

Description

ImprovBoston holds auditions every 6 months for the theater's Resident Improv Casts which include: Mainstage, All Access Improv, Family Show, Face Off, Harold Night Teams (Fresh Blend & Top Shelf), and our National Touring Company. Producers of our weekly shows are also in the house to scope the Boston improv talent.

Winter 2017 Audition Details

If you are late for your scheduled time you will not be admitted into the audition.

If you need to cancel your audition, please email auditions@improvboston.com so we can open up your spot to another performer.

• To attend ImprovBoston's General Auditions, performers should have at least one year of formal improv training and/or experience whether at IB or elsewhere. Resident cast performers at ImprovBoston are graduates of the ImprovBoston Comedy School. Completion of the IBCS core improv program is required to ensure all resident cast members have a shared vocabulary reflecting our specific approach to improvisation. In order to be cast a performer must either be a graduate of the ImprovBoston improv program or currently enrolled in Improv 701 by the start of auditions.
We register groups of up to 30 for each scheduled time slot, first come, first served.
Arrive 15 minutes early to your audition slot for check-in.
These auditions are 100% improv. The exact format is presented when you arrive. Be ready for 2-person scenes and longform montage work. No need to prepare anything. No need to bring headshots or resumes.
To be cast, you must be available for the callbacks of the shows you've marked for consideration.

Callback Details

Callback announcements go out by Wednesday, December 6.
Callbacks will be held December 9 and 10 during the day. You may view the callback schedule here. Callbacks are scheduled in a separate 2 to 2.5 hour block for each cast. If you are called back for multiple shows you should plan on attending all callback sessions in order to be considered for multiple casts. You will have an opportunity to state show preference for consideration.
Casting decisions will be announced by Friday, December 15.

About Our Resident Casts

• We encourage you to audition for as many casts as you are available for and interested in. If invited to multiple callbacks, you will have an opportunity to express your cast preferences. Performers may be cast in multiple ensembles if interested.
• The ImprovBoston Touring Company seeks a variety of performer availabilities. Most performances, workshops, and events are local and do not require extended trips. Cast members submit availability for individual gigs allowing scheduling flexibility.
• Mainstage actors need not be available for all performances. Cast members average 1-2 shows per week based on their scheduling preferences.
• Each resident ensemble rehearses once a week for 2-3 hours.
• Mainstage and Touring Company performers are paid. All other resident casts are for the love of the game.
• For more information on each of these casts, check out www.improvboston.com/performers-bulletin-board
• For a detailed schedule of callbacks, please head over to www.improvboston.com/auditions.
ImprovBoston has a mission to celebrate the many voices of our community. For our Resident Casts, we actively seek talented and experienced performers who reflect this inclusive goal with respect to gender identity or expression, race, national origin, ancestry, color, religion, age, genetic information, sexual orientation, educational or economic status, physical ability, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. We will provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities who notify us in advance of audition day.

"I haven't graduated IBCS yet. Should I still go to auditions?"

Yes! Here are just some of the benefits of coming to Generals before you finish the core improv program:
-Get valuable reps to gain comfort, confidence, and skills with auditioning for future Generals.
-Producers/Directors for non-resident cast shows are in attendance and can consider you for various Main Theater and Studio projects.
-Receive consideration for invites to exclusive IB Grad School programs.
-Get on our radar. We are invested in cultivating comedic talent long-term. Be someone "to watch" this season and you'll be in a better position for a resident cast next season.
-Meet and perform with other awesome improvisers; believe it or not, these auditions are a ton of fun!
