This class is lead by Mary Lemmer, the creator of Improv4, a company that uses improv comedy techniques to train individuals and teams to improve their leadership, team effectiveness, and communication skills. The Improv4 methodology is for leadership development, team building, sales skills development, entrepreneurship, handling difficult situations, confronting challenges, communicating in our jobs, friendships and relationships, and more real-life situations.

Mary started her first company at age 14 and since then has been working with teams and leaders as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and executive and team trainer. Her experience as an entrepreneur, investor, executive and improv comedian inspired her to create the IMPROV4 methodology, using improv comedy techniques to help leaders and helps with communication, emotional intelligence, and personal development and growth. Mary has helped dozens of companies and thousands of executives at Fortune 500 companies, startups, and major universities, including TED, the University of Michigan, SAP, Square, TechStars, CBSi, R/GA, Silicon Valley Bank, and 500 Startups. She has worked with leaders and teams through multiple stages of high-growth. She is the author of Straight from the Investor’s Mouth and gave a forthcoming TED talk about using improv comedy to improve leadership skills.

Mary graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, Minor in Environmental Science, and Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the College of Engineering. She also studied improv and comedy writing with some of the most talented people at The Second City and The Annoyance in Chicago, Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC, EndGames Improv and Bay Area Theatre Sports in San Francisco, among others. She has performed improv and comedy all over the country, including at Gilda Radner’s Laughfest, The Punch Line in San Francisco, and the Lady Laughs Comedy Festival.

Testimonials

"I HIGHLY recommend doing an improv workshop with Mary. I left feeling really empowered to guide the situations around me more by taking charge of and successfully guiding conversations. Mary taught me that a lot of life is about improvising, and this is a vital skill to learn whether you're working with a team, leading a project, or persuading others to follow or invest in you as an entrepreneur. Definitely take a course with Mary!" - Charlotte Ellett, VR Visionary at C63 Industries, TED Resident, Gaming & Tech Speaker

"Mary Lemmer's improv workshop is the ideal environment to learn how to communicate more effectively. Imagine becoming a better communicator and learning the nuances of what it takes to be a better communicator in a fun and entertaining environment. If you want to become a top-notch communicator, you have to take this workshop." - Arun Dawit, Co-Founder at UrbanLogiq, a 500 Startups company

"Mary's improv training changed the game for the CEOs of the companies that participated in the R/GA connected commerce accelerator. After the improv training each CEO was more comfortable in being themselves as the training caused each to discover their inner animal (this will make sense to you after you do the improv training). The improv training is a must for CEOs or managers who are going to be doing any type of public speaking, presenting or pitching." Lee Hnetinka, CEO of Darkstore
