In the winter of 2015, WITTY (Women's Improv Thrown Together, Yo) was born, when a fabulous group of women came together to make each other laugh, stretch, and grow in our improv basics class. Some chose to enjoy the weekly comradery and shared laughs without the pressure of performance, others chose to take up the challenge of participating in a show or two.
WITTY has grown into WITTY Mama, a women's improv theatre company offering classes in both improv basics and intermediate, as well as performance opportunities for participants.
The Improv Foundations class will be led by veteran improv performers Patti Larsen and Nancy McLure, and is open to all women. We welcome those with absolutely no experience in improv or theatre, as well as those who already know the joy of making stuff up with like-minded comrades.
Beginning September 13 and ending October 18, we will meet Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00 at St. Paul’s Church, Upper Hall, 101 Prince St. The 6-week class will give you the groundwork you need to get started, or the time to play and refresh your skills in a free-for-all, hilarious and liberating theatre experience.
Improv Foundations is the pre-requisite for more advanced classes beginning in October 2016.
If you've ever wanted to give improvisational theatre a try, this is your chance. Or, if you've been a player in the past and just love to play, jump in and join us! As a beginner who is just looking for a fun, comfortable and exciting place to have a good laugh or an old hand at trusting your gut, we invite you to say "Yes!" to women's improv.
