Improv 101: Intro to Improv (Mondays)
Overview
Learn the basics of long-form improv. Students will cover scenework principles like "yes-and" and active listening. Over this six-week period, we'll build the groundwork for comedic improvised scenes that'll jumpstart your love of improv. Classes every Monday, January 5th - February 23rd from 7:00-9:30pm. (NO CLASS 1/19 AND 2/16)
The course will culminate in a student show on the afternoon of Saturday, February 28th.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
- Students are required to attend 2 improv shows at Mettlesome during the course (students get into shows for free)
- Students are allowed a maximum of 2 absences per course.

INSTRUCTOR: Ross White (he/him)began improvising with Raleigh's ComedySportz (now ComedyWorx) in 1990. He has toured extensively and co-founded DSI Comedy Theater, where he served as artistic director and ran the training center. He now teaches improv, sketch comedy writing, podcasting, poetry, and publishing courses at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he is the Associate Director of Creative Writing in the Department of English and Comparative Literature. At Mettlesome, he coaches Secret Society and produces Bull City Press Presents, a literary reading series.
