Event description

Description

Please join us to unpack the ways in which implicit bias impacts our work and lives as educators. We'll explore the most current research which describes the ways unconscious beliefs particularly impact our young people of color and students with disabilities. As we uncover common origins of bias, we'll also identify specific conditions in which implicit bias can flourish. Though we can never eliminate our own biases, we'll learn meta-cognitive and procedural strategies to increase self-awareness and activate a commitment to fairness and transparency.

Please join us for coffee and networking at 8:15am, and then engage in an interactive and meaningful session with colleagues from across the region! Registration will remain open until Wednesday, October 11th. Space is limited, so please register soon! If you have questions, please email Steph at pd@umojacorporation.org.

*IL educators can receive 3 CPDUs for this session.

Please Note: In order to make our workshops available to a broad and diverse audience, we are using a sliding scale payment model, which means you choose how much you pay. Paying at the lowest level is like receiving a scholarship, while paying at the highest level helps us cover the true cost of the workshop and helps make our sliding scale possible. Thank you for considering your situation and resources as you choose your registration level!
