Game It Forward

Our HOGJam's are a place to come and mingle with like minded people, whether you're making video games, board games, card games, doesn't matter, come join the fun and make any kind of game you like!

REACTOR, HouseOgames and Game It Forward have partnered together to host our next HOGJam called "Impact Game Challenge" and will run 34 hours.  We start at 11:00AM on Saturday the 18th of January and run until 9:00PM on Sunday the 19th of January.

THEME: We are announcing the theme early so participants can have a bit longer to brainstorm about the game they would like to make.  Impact Game Challenge's theme, oddly enough, is "Gaming For Good!".  Games can do good in whatever form you, the creators, are most passionate about. They can donate to charity, be educational, support healthy habits, forward science, encourage compassion...the list goes on and on.

What We Supply:  A gathering place for the community to come and collaborate together to make some awesome games.  We will be bringing in some food as well as drinks to the event.  If you have any specific needs when it comes to food, please plan appropriately.

What You Bring: Your laptop, skills & ideas. Whether you are a highly trained developer and code in Ruby/PHP/.NET or are a designer and only work with Illustrator and want to make a card game, you are invited to attend this event. Every group needs a good balance of talent and your skills are needed!

  • Each game will be scored by a panel of judges on engagement, accessibility, and benefit. The top 2 teams deemed to have potential for doing the most good will receive passes to the Power of Play conference occurring on Jan 22nd & 23rd as well as each team will have 15 minutes on the morning of Jan 22 to share with the audience what they've created in just 34 hours.

  • Unity has graciously provided a couple Unity licenses to be given away at the event.

Event Schedule:  The following is a list of the weekends agenda:

REACTOR & HouseOgames

REACTOR is revolutionary new launch accelerator for interactive media. Inside REACTOR, games and tech veterans teach & share best practices to accelerate start-ups, guide bootstrapped indies to thrive, and even coach one another on new mechanics, funding (yes Kickstarter), and strategic challenges to the industry. Plus REACTOR's guild is a great community for meeting other pros, talking through strategic issues finding great talent or maybe your next co-founder. Media by Design, Interactive by Nature.

HouseOgames, located in Lynnwood, WA, is a one of a kind incubator for independent game developers. We assist Indies with production of their games and most importantly, successfully bringing them to market! HouseOgames' vision is to provide developers with a way to master the skills required to build a sustainable business by creating a successful game, bring it to market while keeping the indie spirit alive!

Teams selected by HouseOgames will be granted a shared office space, development tools, access to a plethora of industry mentors, and a communal style accommodation with rent and utilities covered while participating in the program.
