We'll meet weekly, on Tuesdays for 10 weeks, 7:30-9pm in Mt Airy.
We'll immerse ourselves in the energy, connection and language skills of the "field out beyond right thinking and wrong thinking" that Rumi wrote about.
Like any language immersion program, right from day one, we'll all be speaking, listening and being NVC. This is a chance to have a weekly practice living embodied non-violence.
Clearly this class is a perfect practice group for anyone who has studied NVC.
Surprisingly, this process also works really well to people just starting. It turns out everyone has a sense about what feels like clean, clear communication, and that's all NVC is about - it's just a set of skills that help us understand how to do that better.
The way it will work is we will have a topic to discuss each week (e.g. connection, judgments, how to disagree and not be disagreeable, etc.) and we'll all participate in the discussion. As each person talks, if anyone in the group feels something about the form of the communication which feels disconnecting or in some way could be expressed even more compassionately, everyone will be invited to raise a hand, even if you don't know what it is that seems off. Then, as a group, we'll discuss the issue from our guts, and hash out how to express this idea in a way that creates connection, peace and inclusion.
Sign up for the whole series (at a discount), or drop in to classes you can.
We'll be covering all the topics in an Intro to NVC, as well as more advanced topic in what I call Embodied NVC.
Reading the book: "Non-Violent Communication: A language of Life" by Marshall Rosenberg is highly recommended: https://www.amazon.com/Nonviolent-Communication-Language-Marshall-Rosenberg/dp/1892005034.
Classes are $15 each or $125 for all 10 classes.
