Event description

Description

Learn the image transfer process to transform copies of photographs, drawings, and images from magazines into transparent layers within your art. This workshop offers an introduction to a variety of methods of using safe, non-toxic adhesives to transfer images. After learning this new skill, continue to experiment with combining various media, source material, and collage techniques to develop and discover your own personal style. Ages 12 and up.

Blythe King is a Pittsburgh-born artist based in Richmond, VA. In her work she explores the complexities of female identity and challenges conventions of traditional femininity, combining photography, collage, Zen calligraphy, and the ancient art of gold leaf. Her most recent project, Two Sides of the Same Coin, continues this conversation with layered portraits made from clippings from vintage catalogues, calligraphy, and Eastern iconography.
