Two day youth conference for Colorado students ages 10-19. This conference sets out to empower youth, build confidence, teach leadership, and inspire young leaders to use their voices to impact their communities and policy governance.
This year's Image Summit will be emceed by Blake Fly, a man on a Mission to Improve Campus Culture by Helping People Realize They Matter. He seeds actions of appreciation, recognition and thoughtfulness into the daily routines of students, staff and campus partners. Simply put, Blake helps students graduate happy and provides campuses with resources to make that possible. Blake is a huge fan of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is heavily lactose intolerant and his favorite movie is admittedly The Notebook. Blake has been a TEDx conference host, a featured TEDx speaker and is the author of “The Campus Life Guide.” He has shared the stage with CBC’s Rick Mercer.
Our day two featured keynote speaker is Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, (his first name pronounced ‘Shoe-Tez-Caht’) a 16 year old indigenous climate activist, hip-hop artist, and a powerful voice on the front lines of a global youth-led environmental movement. At the early age of six, Xiuhtezcatl began speaking around the world from the Rio+20 United Nations Summit in Rio de Janeiro, to addressing the General Assembly at the United Nations in New York. He is the Youth Director of Earth Guardians, an organization of young activists, artists and musicians from across the globe stepping up as leaders and working together to create positive change in their communities to address climate change and other important issues that will define our future.
On day one you will hear from EJ Carrion; a top youth speaker, best-selling author , successful entrepreneur, and preeminent thought-leader on student success. EJ grew up in a low-income community and a single-parent household. He overcame his circumstances to graduate from both high school and college with honors. Plus he received the prestigious Bill Gates Scholarship.
Attendees will have the opportunity to attend 10 breakout sessions, speak to elected officials from across the state, mingle with like minded youth, and celebrate themselves and diversity. You don't want to miss this event and space is limited!
