What is red caviar?
Red caviar, also known as salmon roe, is a delicate and succulent type of caviar very traditional to the Japanese, Russian and Eastern European kitchen.
Red caviar is bright orange in colour, flavorous with strong tangy notes. It is commonly produced from the wild salmon in Far East of Russia.Thursday is traditionally a 'fish day' in Russia, come try the new season caviar with us.
The freshest curated caviar to taste
We have traveled to the Isle of Sakhalin in the Far East of Russia to bring the freshest, carefully selected salmon caviar from the trusted and skillful producers. This extraordinary caviar will be exclusively available to the guests of ‘IKRA. Tasting, drinks and the story behind Sakhalin red caviar’ to taste, enjoy, purchase to bring some home and pair with the drinks.
The organizers have spent many years in the Far East and toured to Sakhalin this autumn for the freshest catch, will give a talk on the story of the salmon caviar. We’ll talk about the fascination of the salmon journey from the sea to the river, explain the craft of caviar cooking and share some beautiful sea inspired photography.
Tickets and What’s Included
Every ticket includes a tasting of caviar in three different serving ways and a welcome drink to pair it with. All pairings are through by the Zima bar team to match its exotic taste.
The Friend of Salmon ticket includes three tastings, along with three welcome drinks and a free 100g pot of Sakhalin caviar. To help support endangered salmon species in the Far East, 40% of the ticket price goes to a wildlife charity donation.
More Food and Caviar
During the evening, our guests can buy additional caviar jars to take them home. A jar of 100g will be available at an extraordinarily friendly price, it is cash only, so bring along some notes.
Alexey Zimin will work with us to come up with innovative and unconventional caviar based main dishes in addition to the bar’s main menu, only available at this secret supper style event.
