Event description

Description

Join the IFT British Section for the first UK screening of the film, Food Evolution, directed by Academy Award-nominated director, Scott Hamilton Kennedy, and narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Date: Wednesday 3 May, 2017

Time: 5:30PM - 8:30PM (film starts at 6:00PM)

Location: SCI, 14-15 Belgrave Square, London

Agenda: Film showing, discussion, drinks reception

Ticket price: £20.00 + VAT (student price: £10.00 + VAT)

Food Evolution is the capstone of the Institute of Food Technologists’ 75 years anniversary project which included the FutureFood 2050 initiative.

IFT commissioned and funded Food Evolution, while providing Kennedy with the creative license and control to develop a film that begins a rational conversation about the use of sound science in our global food system, looking specifically at the brutally polarised debate over genetically-modified foods.

Prof. John Coupland, IFT President, and Prof. Colin Dennis, Past-President of IFT, will lead the discussion, and we will end the evening with a drinks reception.

Food Evolution has only been shown in film festivals and other small private screenings (review, Hollywood Reporter, Dec 2016). This will be the 1st UK screening prior to broad distribution, and is being offered exclusively by the British Section of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).
