Event description

Description

We have a thing for big questions. We think you might, too. That's why we’re starting iF Curious: to gather some of Seattle’s most interesting thinkers together to explore into the big ideas that will shape our future. This is our kick-off event, and we want you to be there.

Refreshments, insight, and good company will be plentiful.

For the first time in history, three trends – pervasive computing, digital manufacturing, and machine learning – intersect to give us the ability to shift to an entirely new set of design and business paradigms. The challenge is how we surf the waves of change, what we do about them, and how the process of designing "things" will change. While some of us will be reactionary and surprised at each turn of the screw, Mickey and his team hope some of us can not only survive the riptide, but harness its power for good. Join Mickey and Intentional Futures in a discussion about ecological design and the nature of things.

Mickey McManus is a current Fellow at Autodesk, a principal of MAYA Design, and a pioneer in the field of collaborative innovation, pervasive computing, human-centered design and education. He holds nine patents in the area of connected products, vehicles, and services. He is also a co-author of Trillions: Thriving in the Emerging Information Ecology (Wiley 2012). The book is a field guide to the future, where computing will cease to be confined to any particular "box," but instead be freely accessible in the ambient environment.
