Larry Davis: Biography
Larry has been creating bridges between teachers, staff, and parents nationally through education advocacy since 1998. He has seen it all when it comes to supporting families on this path.
Working from the perspective: Making a difference from the inside-out, Larry brings to the conversation extensive experience as a District Special Education Director, Behavior Specialist, Highly Capable Coordinator, Elementary Principal, and a K-8 classroom teacher. Expertise and insight on teaching, learning, and student behavior guides his work. He strives to keep his presentations “real” and represents a refreshing sense of authenticity in the process due to a diverse range of experiences.
As an author, trainer, and guest speaker, his message continues to inspire audiences through the simple theme: Love, Understanding, and Other Best Practices: The title of his first book. Tonight will be his first presentation with Steve Gill, a long-time friend and colleague; it should be really fun!
Steve Gill: Biography
Steve’s first job in education, before he became a school psychologist, was as a driver’s education teacher. Then Steve had the wonderful opportunity to study school psychology and work at the university, so he followed that path.
Steve started his career as a school psychologist in a district with a large ELL population. There he realized how little he had learned about language learners prior to this experience. Over the years, he completed graduate work in ELL studies, eventually creating the ELL Critical Data Process. As of writing this, Steve has trained over 14,000 educators on the process across more than 600 school districts in multiple states.
Steve and Ushani (Steve’s wife and co-author) have six books, a booklet and a workbook for sale on Amazon.com. Among others:
- The ELL Critical Data Process
- Evaluating ELL Students for the Possibility of Special Education Qualification
- Special Education Referral or Not
- ELL Teachers and Special Education
- Processing Perspective, Examining Beliefs, Biases and Reality Through Stories
- Lessons Learned while Evaluating ELL Students for Potential Special Education Qualification
- The Ell Special Education Evaluation Workbook (Companion and Training Document for the ELL Critical Data Process).
- Our booklet, Language Acquisition
Steve is a Past President of the Washington State Association of School Psychologists.
