Who can register?
This event is open to all students interested in developing their entrepreneurial mindset and creativity, and taking the next step to bring their ideas to reality. Tech, and IT students are highly encouraged to join.
Is the event for free?
Yes it is.
Do I need to have a team before signing up?
No. But during the event, you will need to be part of a team of 2-3 in order to maximize your participation and overall learning experience. In forming your team, we strongly encourage you to look for collaborators with skills that are complementary to yours. An ideal team is composed of members with experience or backgrounds in technology (product development), business (sales, marketing and finance) and design (user experience).
Do I need to submit a startup idea to join the bootcamp?
No. But we do encourage you to identify a social pain or problem that you're keen to solve. As a step further, you may also think of possible solutions (we'd like to consider these more as guesses) to the problem you identified. While at the bootcamp, we want you to practice deep thinking on the problem you identified, validate your solutions through active discussions and consultations with your teammates, mentors and other co-participants.
Should my idea be science and tech-related?
Do I have to be in IT to attend the event?
No. We are looking for novel solutions in all areas, not just wireless apps. While we encourage all IT folks to join the bootcamp and competition, we also encourage other participants from other disciplines including business, arts and more.
How do I qualify on the Pitching Competition?
All teams by the end of the mentoring sessions will have to pitch their concepts to the mentors assigned to them. Mentors will then choose which among the pitching teams will advance to the next round of pitching in front of the invited judges for a chance to win exciting prizes and support from the local community.
Does winning in the event qualify me for the next IdeaSpace Startup Competition?
No. The IdeaSpace Startup Competition is a different program with different sets of requirements. To qualify for the Startup Competition, you will need to fill out the online application form available at www.ideaspacefoundation.org. Attending the IdeaSpace Technopreneur Bootcamp however will give you the unique advantage of meeting and learning tips directly from the IdeaSpace startup founders who made it to our startup competition and underwent our half a year incubation and acceleration program.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovation, technology development, and entrepreneurship as a path to nation building. We help budding technology entrepreneurs develop ground breaking innovations and transform these into successful businesses. We believe that technopreneurship - entrepreneurial ventures involving high technology - is important and a critical factor to the progress of the Philippine economy as a whole. Thus, our program goes beyond providing funding for startups; we combine incubation & acceleration to help turn ideas into viable commercial products.
