About this event
Founded and directed by Reynaliz Herrera, IDEAS, NOT THEORIES is a theatrical percussion company for unconventional instruments that offers several programs featuring Reynaliz’s original music for bicycles and other unconventional instruments.
“Ideas, Not Theories” is a theatrical percussion show which explores the use of unconventional instruments such as: bicycles, tap and body percussion, water, brushes, as well as traditional percussion instruments such as marimbas and drums. All the musical works in the program are linked together through a storyline, physical theater and comedy, and original characters making the complete performance a unique, quirky and creative artistic experience.
Reynaliz’s mission is to create staged musical works that bring avant-garde musical ideas to a broad audience.
Reynaliz Herrera: Director/Composer/Performer
Mexican born and Boston- based percussionist, composer and educator, Reynaliz has performed in many countries. In 2012, she created “Ideas, Not Theories” a theatrical percussion company for unconventional instruments featuring her own musical works, and which she has performed in venues across North America like, The International Festival of Arts & Ideas 2019 (CT), Flea Theater (NYC), National Arts Center of Canada, Please Touch Museum (PA), Boston Children’s Museum, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, World Maker Faire NY, NY International Fringe Festival 2015, NYU/KoSA/HLAG Day of Percussion, ILLUMINUS. She has collaborated with The National Arts Center Orchestra, Danza Contemporanea En Concierto (MX), and Double Edge Theater Company (U.S) etc. Other performances include: SXSW, Palau Hall (Spain), Teatro Amadeo Roldan (Cuba).
