Event description

Description

Come join us for an evening of Contemporary Instrumental music featuring Jared Hallock on vibraphone and Wayne White on guitar. Both Wayne & Jared will share with you the stories behind their original compositions and you'll get to hear them played as they were meant to be heard, up close and personal. There will also be an opportunity to hear award-winning music of Joseph L Young & Lynn Tredeau.

There will be light appetizers provided while you relax and take in the beautiful instrumental sounds. Seating is limited, so reserve your tickets soon!!

This is part of an ongoing concert series in the Boise area, featuring Contemporary Instrumental music composed and performed by artists from Idaho & beyond.

You will have an opportunity to mingle with the artists during the intermission and after the concert. That is what makes a small venue concert such a special experience. Additionally, you can take the music home as a souvenir because there will be CDs and Sheet Music available for sale.

Learn more about the artists-

Jared Hallock-
Jared Hallock identifies as a percussionist and relates to the world via rhythm.

In a world where every sound is fair game and music is a science, there are many life lessons to gleam from sound. Hallock’s aural explorations are most often manifested via the drum set, marimba, vibraphone, piano and synthesis. As a composer for film and dance, a soloist, and a drummer, Hallock thrives in a laboratory of sound constantly searching for new relationships in our aural landscapes.

Currently using the vibraphone as a vehicle, he explores the idea of dissonance and how it relates to culture, psychology and music. Enjoying the marriage of dissonance and frequency, he presents a musical world where the listener has the opportunity to explore the binaural relationships between the beating of different hearts and viewpoints.

Intended as a meditation, Hallock will present ideas related to the possibility of beauty found within discord, disharmony, confusion and conflict.

I found myself at a professional crossroads years back where the singer/songwriter thing seemed all too common and musically unchallenging. I discovered a genre of guitar playing that said more without lyrics than any I'd ever heard. Finger style guitar combines all components of a band into one arrangement and like a painting, it gives you only a title, allowing the listener the freedom to choose their own adventure without being given direction lyrically. Beautiful cascading melody, imaginative and sometimes percussive accompaniment, and fascinating alternate and open tunings, all wrapped up in one song. No pedals, no over dubbing, no obnoxious vocals. Just me.
