Since 1955 the Indiana Council of World Affairs’s Distinguished Speaker Series has brought some of the world’s best minds to Indianapolis for a dinner presentation to discuss international topics of interest. Our events are open to anyone with an interest in international topics - ICWA members and non-members.

Our final event of the 2017/2018 season is on Thursday, May , 2018.

Speakers: Liesl Riddle, PhD, Professor, International Business/Affairs, George Washington University

Topic: Diaspora: Borne of Tragedy, Resettlement in the US

Overview:

Liesl Riddle, PhD, Associate Professor of International Business and International Affairs at George Washington University, has researched and written about 16 different diaspora communities in the US and Europe who originate from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. She is a frequent guest speaker at the US Foreign Service Institute. Dr. Riddle will profile how refugee immigrant groups, although borne of tragedy and settled in the US, make incalculable economic, cultural, professional, medical, and social contributions to the whole of America.
