Description

This is a monthly learning collaborative designed for healthcare organizations and clinics with an interest in learning about how to implement and treat patients with substance use disorder or chronic pain using medication assisted treatment.

This month Doug Bovee, MD will present on medication assisted treatment for patients with substance use disorder or for patients who are at risk of overdosing with opioids prescribed for chronic pain.

Objectives:

  1. Define medication assisted treatment (MAT)
  2. Increase knowledge of and competence to practice/participate in a team-based care environment to address patients with substance use disorder and/or chronic pain
  3. Increase knowledge on how to assess, refer, and implement a medication assisted treatment model into a clinic setting
  4. Describe the difference between suboxone, methadone and other medication assisted treatment options
