NIMS ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

Who must take this course?

All Mid-level Management Federal/State/Local/Tribal/Private Sector & Nongovernmental personnel to include should take ICS-300, including:

Persons serving as command staff, section chiefs, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center staff.*

Training topics include:

* ICS Staffing and organization to include: reporting and working relationships and information flow.

* Transfer of Command

* Unified Command functions in a multi-jurisdictional or multi-agency incident

* ICS forms

* Resource Management

* Interagency mission planning and procurement


Are there requirements or pre-requisites for this course?

Yes, the following are requirements that you must have before taking ICS 300:

- U.S. Citizenship

- IS 100.b Introduction to Incident Command System

- IS 200.b Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

- IS 700.a National Incident Command System, An Introduction

The above are online courses that can be accessed and taken any time at Complete these courses prior to attending the ICS 300 course.

I want to take both the ICS 300 & 400 Courses. Do I need to register separately for ICS 400?

Yes, you must register separately for ICS 400: Advanced ICS for command and general staff. You can register for ICS 400 HERE. If you are planning to attend both courses, plan to be in training all day 8:00 AM -5:00 PM on Monday, May 11th through Thursday, May 14th.

Why is the last day of ICS 300 and the first day of ICS 400 scheduled for the same day?

Training sessions on Wednesday, May 13th serves as both the last day for ICS 300 AND the first day for ICS 400. The training material covered at the end of ICS 300 is the same material needed for the refresher portion of ICS 400, therefore, they are able to be combined. This combined course schedule opportunity allows those taking both ICS 300 and ICS 400 in the same week to shorten their total length of the trainings by one day.

Can I get my California Fire Service Training and Education Program Certification through this course?

Yes. This course fulfills requirements for the California Fire Service Training and Education Program Certification. The course is free; however, to receive your certification you must bring a certificate fee of $20.00 per course. If you are attending both ICS 300 and ICS 400 and wish to receive your California Fire Service Training and Education Program Certification for each course you must bring two separate payments of $20. Payment must be made in the form of check or money order made out to Absolute Safety Training.

Do I have to bring my order confirmation to the class?

No. You do not have to bring any order confirmation to the class. We will have the list of registered attendees.

Anything else I should know?

Dress comfortably and in layers as we cannot always control temperature settings in the classroom. Coffee, water and light snacks will be provided.
