Event description

Description

This workshop presented by the ICMA University, MMASC and the League of Women in Government brings two great learning tools into one dynamic session: Strengths Finder & Standout 2.0!

In this interactive, lively session you will assess your own strengths and standout attributes and how you might best use those talents at work as a part of a team and as a manager. This session is for all levels in local government from senior executive level to entry level. Everyone has unique strengths -- What are yours??

More about the two components of the workshop:

STRENGTHS FINDER: DO WHAT YOU DO BEST EVERY DAY

Strengths are the unique combination of talents, knowledge, and skills that every person possesses. People use these innate traits and abilities in their daily lives to complete their work, to relate with others, and to achieve their goals. But most people don’t know what their strengths are or have the opportunity to use them to their advantage.

People who do focus on their strengths every day are six times as likely to be engaged in their jobs. They are more productive too, both individually and in teams. And they are more than three times as likely to say they have an excellent quality of life.

Discovering and developing your strengths positions you to do what you do best every day. Prior to the session you will take the StrengthsFinder assessment and learn about your strengths during the session. Included in the cost of the workshop is the cost of the online assessment. After registration, an online code will be emailed to participant to complete online assessment. Assessment shoud take about 30-45 minutes to complete.

STANDOUT 2.0: BE THE BEST LEADER YOU CAN BE

StandOut 2.0 is designed to help individuals within the organization understand what strengths they bring to work. Instead of focusing on what you lack it focuses on what you bring to work and are able to contribute to the organization. It begins by identifying strengths (which are outcome oriented and based on what people actually do consistently and do well).

Using a work based situational assessment, StandOut2.0 identifies 9 strength roles and the 2 that are most dominant for each individual in the way that they work and interact in team settings. In some ways good teams are like jigsaw puzzles—the pieces are all different but complete the puzzle when in their right places.

StandOut 2.0 identifies how others experience us and provides specific tools to help team leaders and teams be more effective at work. It builds better team leaders and more effective members of Leadership Teams.

Prior to the session you will take the Standout 2.0 assessment and learn about your strengths during the session. Included in the cost of the workshop is the cost of the online assessment. After registration, an online code will be emailed to participant to complete the online assessment. Assessment shoud take about 20 minutes to complete.
