ICIC Gathering: "Divergent" author Veronica Roth
Event Information
Description
The Illinois Council of Instructional Coaching (ICIC) & The Glenbard 87 Instructional Coaches Cooperative (IC2) presents the “Divergent Literacies” spring gathering. Our event is designed to showcase the ways teachers in every discipline can help students “read the world.” Our keynote speaker will be Veronica Roth, New York Times best selling author of the Divergent Trilogy and her new novel Carve the Mark.
The day’s schedule includes:
11:00-11:30 Boxed lunch
11:30-12:20 Welcome from the ICIC & IC2 + a “Divergent Literacies” experience led by the authors of Making Curriculum Pop: Developing Literacies Across all Content Areas (NCTE & Free Spirit Press).
12:20-1:10 Keynote interview with Veronica Roth about her education, writing process and the ways she “reads and writes the world.”
1:10-2:20 Short table top presentations (duration and number TBD based on participant numbers) on how instructional leaders help students in all disciplines “read the world”
2:20-2:30 Closing reflection / comments.
If you are interested in presenting a table top discussion please fill out our Google form and tell us how you help students in any discipline “read the world.” We are especially excited about 15-25 minute presentations that show teachers how to link print literacies and multimodal texts like film, podcasts, music, twitter feeds, cartoons, infographics, active-learning and other “divergent” ways of doing literacies.
PLEASE NOTE - No refunds for purchased tickets, however, tickets are transferable. A boxed lunch is included and will be served at 11:00. Making Curriculum Pop books are available at cost (no royalties to the authors) through this website if you are interested.
