Detailed Itinerary

Option A - Fly Iceland Air on Tuesday, July 3 ($1,000+)

Option B - Fly Delta / KLM on Wednesday, July 4 ($687)
(Both flights arenon stop overnight toReykjavik)

Wednesday, July 4 - Welcome to Iceland
Reykjavik - a first look: Its latitude, at 64°08' N, makes it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói Bay. With a population of around 120,000 (and over 200,000 in the Greater Reykjavík Area), it is the heart of Iceland's economic and governmental activity.

After a "drive by" of downtown Reykjavik and the mourvelous landmark Hallgrímskirkja, the church of Hallgrímur, we will head to Pingvellir National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site - which is one of the country's most significant historic regions. Pingvellir is an amazing geological site where the meeting of the tectonic plates of North America and Europe form the picturesque landscape.

We will have the option to hike and also scramble up to the waterfall. Stroll to the original site of the Parliament or Alþingi, which was established at Þingvellir in 930 and remained there until 1789.

After lunch, hike up to the southern ridge of
Pingvellir - Intermeditate hike, can be extended - group choice.
PingVellier2012

Optional Activities:
In the afternoon you will have an optional activity to snowmobile on the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier.
Caving: A chance to explore the hidden world beneath ours in an amazing trip to the underworld, with the magical rock formations that volcanic eruptions have left behind in dark and hidden lava tubes.
Diving: Diving in Iceland is a challenging activity, mostly because of the cold conditions all year round. The Silfra ravine is without a doubt one of the best dive sites in the world, a dreamy place no passionate diver should miss. The crystal clear, freezing cold water with it´s amazing blue colors and lack of life is hard to describe with words, you just have to take a look.

In the evening, we will settle into our beautiful cabins - see pictures below:
Overnight Delux Country Cabins

After dark, Midnight ATV Adventure:
Guided ATV trips on off-road tracks in beautiful highland locations with a choice of awesome technical off road ATV biking. Experience the excitement of riding our powerful ATVs in stunning lava fields and mountain valleys. Quad biking is not weather dependent and are therefore one of the few all year round activities available in the Icelandic Highlands.

Thursday, July 5 - The Golden Circle
After breakfast, start from the cabins or - in case you are arrving today - pick up from the airport and bypass Reykjavik to venture for the Golden Circle:

The Golden Circle Tour encompasses some of the most famous sites in Iceland:
First we will visit the Keridi crater and Faxi waterfall. Followed by the world famous geothermal area of the great Geyser, the one and original hot spring on earth, after which all other hot springs are named after. We will be able to hike around the bubbling mud pools and venture up a hill to get a panoramic view of the great Geysir. Continuing west, we’ll come to the majestic Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall). Up close and personal, we will walk down to the edge of the cascade, so close that you can even feel the mist from the glacial water on your face.

Horseback Riding - This is your chance to enjoy the stunning Icelandic nature on it´s own unique Icelandic horse. The Icelandic horse is world famous for it´s five gates and especially the smooth gate tölt. The Icelandic horse breed has been pure for over a thousand years making it one of the purest breeds in the world.

In the evening, we will settle into our beautiful cabins - hot tubs included!
Overnight Delux Country Cabins

Friday, July 6 - Southern Iceland - Waterfall Hiking, Glacier Snowmobile
After breakfast,we will continue to see the sights of southern Iceland.
Among en route stops today are Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall you can actually walk behind. Here you will have the choice of hiking or visiting the Saga museum. We will make a stop at the site of Eyjafjallajokull glacier that recedes in size more each year. Another must see on the south side of Iceland is the black beach of Vik. Here there are scenic views of glaciers, woodlands, and other colorful landscape and the ideal spot for the lovers of pure nature.

Optional: For those seeking a more physical experience, we offer: Thórsmörk
Thórsmörk (Þórsmörk) is a mountain ridge in Iceland that was named after the Norse god Thor (Þór). In the valley, the river Krossá winds between the mountains. The valley is closed in between glaciers, Mýrdalsjökull being at the rear end of the valley. This leads to an especially warm climate, better than in the rest of south Iceland.

Thórsmörk is popular amongst hikers. A lot of different tours are possible, from hiking on the glaciers to trekking (i.e., Laugavegur up to Landmannalaugar) or smaller excursions, such as to the canyon Stakkholtsgjá with its waterfall or five small day treks, to the summits of surrounding peaks, with rewarding views, even in bad weather. The Krossá is a cold fast river coming down from glaciers: a bridge allows pedestrians to cross.

Late evening transfer back to Reykjavik, group dinner and. or open night.
Overnight Hotel Reykjavik

Hotel Gardner
Central Reykjavik is 10 minutes’ walk from this hotel, which is set on the University of Iceland’s campus. It offers a communal kitchen and laundry room, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception.
Each simply furnished guest room at Hotel Gardur provides garden or city views. Some have a work desk and all have shared bathroom facilities.

A buffet breakfast is served daily at Gardur, while a variety of restaurants can be found in the surroundings for other meals. Lake Tjörnin is just 100 metres away. The National Museum of Iceland is a 2-minute walk from the hotel and the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church is 1 km away.

Saturday, July 7 - The City of Reykjavik

Open day: There are plenty of ways to explore and experience the city:
-
Hike Mt. Esja, just 20 minutes outside Reykjavik
- On wheels: The bike ride will be an easy 3 hour ride through the old and new areas of Reykjavik, seeing the fast transformation of rural Iceland into urban Reykjavik.
- Sign up for
a whale watching tour.
- Alternate idea, just shop and relax in this quaint city.

Optional Highlight: A visit to
the Blue Lagoon
In the late afternoon/ evning, we suggest a visit to the Blue Lagoon, this geothermal spa is the perfect way to endulge on trip to Iceland.
You can relax in the warm geothermal seawater in a fascinating steamy environment and is a one-of-a-kind experience. It is famous for its unique active ingredients and their effects on body and soul.

In the evening, suggested group dinner and a night out and about.
Reykjavik's night life is rated as one of the best in the world.
Overnight Hotel Reykjavik

Reykjavík is often dubbed "the nightlife capital of the north". It is famous for its weekend nightlife. Icelanders tend to go out late so bars that look rather quiet can fill up suddenly-usually after midnight on a weekend.
There are over 100 different bars and clubs in Reykjavík; most of them are located on Laugavegur and its side streets.
