Event description
Ice cream social for dogs with photography to benefit One Tail at a Time dog rescue of Chicago

About this Event

I'm super excited to announce that we'll celebrate the Second Friday art walk with something extra special this October! An Ice Cream Social Photo party as a benefit for One Tail at a Time in my Pilsen studio!

What happens when you put dogs and ice cream together in front of a camera?

Total furry silliness and photo fun and financial support for homeless dogs!

Nothing could be cuter than dogs and ice cream together for a pawty! We'll be scooping ice cream onto cones for your pup and making pictures of all the ensuing adorableness.

Who is One Tail at a Time (OTAT) and what do they do?

The mission of OTAT is to end pet homelessness by making pet ownership a joyful and accessible experience for all.

We accomplish this by rescuing animals from overcrowded shelters, placing them in loving forever homes and providing support and resources to pet owners in need.

What is the OTAT story?

In 2007 Heather Owen, One Tail at a Time’s President and co-Founder, visited Chicago Animal Care and Control for the first time. That year, the city shelter was euthanizing more than 13,000 animals in those walls. The visit was an inspiration to become involved in the animal rescue community and be part of the solution. The next year One Tail at a Time was born inside an Albany Park apartment among five friends.

We started as a backup plan for animals that were not getting adopted or rescued by other groups in the area shelters. Over the years we have experienced consistent and steady growth, being among the top transfer partners for both open access shelters in Chicago and having a robust transport program in which dogs are continuously rescued from southern states in need.

As of 2019 One Tail at a Time hosts a bustling dog adoption program at the Adoption Center, an ISO Program focusing on Chicago’s dogs, a Kitten Team that cares for neonate kittens, vaccine clinics in low income neighborhoods, and leads the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention & Support Program (“CRISP”) which keeps pets intending to be surrendered at the city shelter with their loving families.

How can I help?

You can help One Tail at a Time right now by booking a photo session at our Ice Cream Social Photo Party! We'll have plenty of doggie ice cream and cones on hand.

Each participant will receive two digital images ready for social sharing. Other prints and products may be ordered on site with special day-of event pricing. The sitting fee of $39.00 goes directly to One Tail at a Time. Usually dog portrait sessions start at $250.- This is a great deal for a greater cause!

So grab your ticket now because events like this usually sell out fast! All shapes and sizes of dogs are welcome.

Share this event and use #PhotosForOTAT and receive 10% off one print order of your favorite pup picture! Just show us the posting on your favorite social media and that's it! Discount is yours!

Tickets are non-refundable.
