Speaker Bios
  • Rob Thomas is General Manager, IBM Analytics. He brings extensive experience in management, business development, and consulting in the high technology and financial services industries. He has worked extensively with global businesses, and his background includes experience in business and operational strategy, acquisitions and divestitures, manufacturing operations, and product design and development. He has published numerous articles and his writing can be found on his blog:
  • Mike Gualtieri is Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester. His research focuses on software technology, platforms, and practices that enable technology professionals to deliver prescient digital experiences and breakthrough operational efficiency. His key technology and platform coverage areas are big data and IoT strategy; Hadoop/Spark; predictive analytics, streaming analytics, and prescriptive analytics; machine learning, data science, AI, and emerging technologies that make software faster and smarter. Mike is also a leading expert on the intersection of business strategy, architecture, design, and creative collaboration. Mr Gualtieri also has more than 25 years' experience in the industry helping firms design and develop mission-critical applications in eCommerce, insurance, banking, travel/hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, and scientific research for organizations including NASA, eBay, Bank of America, Liberty Mutual, Nielsen, EMC, and others. He has written thousands of lines of code, managed development teams, and consulted with dozens of technology firms on product, marketing, and R&D strategy.
  • Dinesh Nirmal is Vice President, IBM Analytics Platform Development. He is responsible for delivering and driving next generation cloud-based analytics platforms to market. He heads up the IBM Spark Technology Center, driving the investment, adoption and advancement of Apache Spark across the IBM Analytics portfolio, and also works on delivering market-leading cloud and platform-based Hadoop solutions.
  • Jeff Josten is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the lead architect of DB2. He has worked in DB2 Development at the IBM Silicon Valley Lab since 1985. He owns several patents in the area of data base technology, and is a frequent speaker at user group and customer meetings.
  • Barry Baker leads the product strategy and direction for z Systems and LinuxONE.  He was formerly the Director of IMS and TPF in the IBM Systems group. He started his career with IBM as an Assembler Programmer working on TPF in Poughkeepsie. He stayed with TPF for 8 years as a software engineer, development manager, test and service manager, and product manager. 
  • Tooraj Arvajeh is the Chief Engineering Officer at Blocpower.  He has 10 years energy efficiency experience across 4 continents and previously worked at a Senior Consultant at Arup. .  He has LEED AP certification with advanced knowledge in green building.  He also holds an MBA from the Columbia Business School.
  • Dr. Avijit Chatterjee  is an Analytics Evangelist and member of the IBM Academy of Technology.  He works on the next generation analytics solutions that combine cognitive with business analytics.  He previously was the lead architect for IBM Healthcare and Life Science Solutions.  He graduated with a Ph.D from the University of Southern California.
  • Daniel Hernandez is Vice President of IBM Analytics Offering Management with responsibility for a team that builds, operates and continuously improves the products and services in IBM's data, integration and governance, content and analytics portfolio.  He graduated with a Master of Science from The University of Texas at Austin.
  • Glenn Finch is the Global Leader for Big Data & Analytics at IBM.  He has 25 years in Banking with a focus on Data and Analytics Specialties: Credit Cards, Data Warehousing, Advanced Analytics, Banking, Financial Market, Business Intelligence and Operational Intelligence.  
  • Dr. Rahul Singal is the Chief Medical Officer at Argus/DST Healthcare and has a detailed understanding of consumer health, health plans, PBMs, hospitals, physicians, technology, capital raising, strategic relationships, financial models, metrics, corporate culture and population health/care management.  Dr. Singal has a Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanford Medical School and a BA in biology from the University of Southern California.
  • Stephanie Mitchko is the Chief Technology Officer at Cadent Network, which provides solutions across cable, broadcast and Hispanic media.  Cadent offers advertisers and agencies a dynamic, cost-effective alternative to traditional media networks.  Stephanie graduated with a BSEE from New York University, Polytechnic School of Engineering.
  • Randy Halley is Executive Vice President at American First Credit Union responsible for the credit union's 109 branch network, lending, training and mortgage origination/processing.  He has worked at various positions in the company for 40 years. He graduated with an MBA from Utah State University.
  • Namik Hrle is an IBM Fellow  (IBM's highest technical recognition), and works in the IBM Boeblingen Development Laboratory and is the lab's Chief Information Management and Analytics Technologist, responsible for strategy and technology directions.  He is a holder of numerous patents, outstanding technical achievements, author recognition and corporate awards.
