About this Event

(General Admission)

Ian Calk

Ian Calk is a singer/songwriter originally from North Augusta, SC. He has played music his entire life but began writing songs when he got his first guitar in high school. In 2015 he moved from South Carolina to Atlanta to attend chiropractic school at Life University. He is the lead singer for a pop/soul duo with his brother Gareth. The family duo provides an enticing blend of power pop combined with the edgy influence of rock and blues and recently finished recording their debut EP. Their single "Wishing I Was Somebody Else" released last year gained success among fans, earning over 50k streams and receiving some attention internationally. Ian was also listed in 2018 in the online magazine Libro Musica as one of the "Top Ten Undiscovered Artists". His soulful voice combined with an emotionally driven sound and versatility makes him an act to watch out for.

Jeff Ruby

Being a rock and folk singer-songwriter wasn’t Jeff Ruby’s original path. In high-school, Ruby studied famed investor, Warren Buffett, and had great success in the stock market during the tech boom of the 90’s. Heading towards Wall Street, Ruby graduated from Indiana University with a business degree. Filling deep pockets wouldn’t be enough to continue on the gilded path, and he broke off into a different direction.

Growing up among the cornfields of rural Indiana, Ruby’s oldest brother introduced him to older rock bands like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and The Doors. Like many teenagers of the 90’s, Ruby was a fan of grunge acts like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. Throughout his life, Ruby would perform in choirs and theater. This dueling interest of performance would eventually lead him to his current path.

Jeff Ruby’s earliest performances as a singer-songwriter began during an open mic at The Undertow in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He would go on to play his own gigs locally in the area at different venues. In 2006, Ruby moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he continues to call home. In 2010, he would release his first album Beyond The Pale. He’s since released three albums and has performed hundreds of shows throughout the U.S.A. and Canada. He's currently writing songs for his fifth album to be released in 2019.

John Bradley

John Bradley was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where he found solace early in old 70’s folk/rock records. Bradley moved to Idaho for university, where he first began writing and performing songs and then, later, to Buenos Aries, Argentina. The years spent living in the violent and unpredictable slums of Buenos Aires shaped and cemented the “tragic and sweet” messages present in his music.

These messages and the hard-edged, stark landscapes of the Rocky Mountains seep into the compositions on Wishcon, which are reflective, yet somehow harrowing in execution. Bradley draws on inspiration from the untidy and unseemly parts of ourselves that we tend to hide even from the people closest to us.
