Deep Web and Alternative Search Engines
Google is the "go to" search engine for most individuals. It is a great option and offers a wide variety of features. However, did you realize that there is a world beyond Google? Depending on what you are searching, Google may not be your best option. This program will focus on alternatives to Google and how using them can result in more efficient and effective searching. We will also explore the Deep Web and how understanding this portion of the Internet can make you a more productive researcher.
- Understand the power and limitations of Google when conducting online research
- Understand the difference between a general search engine, a vertical search engine, and information found on the Deep/Invisible web and why it matters when conducting online searching
- Identify several alternatives to Google and the areas in which the alternatives excel
- How to implement this information when conducting day to day research at work to become more efficient and effective
This program is worth 1.5 recertification points.
