Event description
This book study is designed to provide educators with insights and strategies to understand the realities our students face and how to help.

About this Event

This nine-week online, self-paced book study is designed to provide educators at all levels with insights and practical strategies to empathize with the realities our students face and understand how those realities impact their learning. Learners will also walk away with a raised awareness of what it takes to build classroom community and create a positive learning environment for every student.

Learning Goals:

  • Recognize our responsibility to empathize with the realities of our students
  • Understand how these realities impact student learning
  • Explore opportunities to facilitate open communication, build strong relationships, and create a sense of community for the students with whom we work

Read each section of I Wish My Teacher Knew

  • Compose reflections of each section of the book via on-line technology platforms
  • Reflect upon current practices and seek ways to enhance success for all students
  • Consider insights and practical strategies to enhance open communication, build relationships, and create a sense of community
  • Compose a final reflection, which includes an application plan

15 CEUs or 1 USF Grad Credit available ($45 at the learner’s expense)
