Event description

Description

We're excited to host a special " I Love The 90s ” Edition of First Fridays, the Schomburg's popular monthly social gathering! Celebrating 90’s Music, seen by most as the golden age of Hip Hop and R&B, the 90s were the genre's most formative and expansive years. Join us as we honor the trailblazers who have paved the way for this global musical and creative revolution, led by African-Americans and that now moves the world.

Come enjoy the sounds of the 90's spun by DJ Ocross, DJ Wemi, with a guest DJ set by our own Schomburg Director Kevin Young. First Fridays guests are invited to check out our pop-up display, sign up for a Schomburg Society membership, and visit the Schomburg Shop—while networking and dancing the night away! With our extended hours, guests are also invited to check out our exhibitions A Ballad For Harlem and Femmetography: The Gaze Shifted.
