Join us for an engaging discussion and screening of "Maineland" with the Director, Miao Wang and the producers - Damon Smith and Violet Du Feng. Filmed over three years in China and the U.S., MAINELAND is a multi-layered coming-of-age tale that follows two affluent and cosmopolitan teenagers from China as they settle into an American boarding school in blue-collar rural Maine. The two main subjects of the film, Stella and Harry's fuzzy visions of the American dream slowly gains more clarity, as they ruminate on their experiences of alienation, culture clash, and personal identity, sharing new understandings and poignant discourses on home and country.

The screening is followed by a panel discussion moderated by Isaac Stone Fish from the Asia Society and a Q&A session with the audience.
