Event description

Description

The I Do! Project has spent the last two years engaged in research aimed to capture the voices of survivors ( and those at-risk) of forced marriage as well as service providers in the field. Over 21 survivors of forced marriage were interviewed and 8 youth who are considered at-risk participated in a focus group. In addition, 11 service providers working intensely with survivors of forced marriage were also interviewed. This level of engagement makes this research the most comprehensive of it's kind to date in Canada.

We are now at a point where we are sharing the results of this research with youth and service providers both in the greater GTA as well as Waterloo Region. This lunch and learn will share more about this initiative as well as highlight the significant outcomes of the research. It is best suited for service professionals and informal supports.

This project was funded by the Laidlaw Foundation and trusteed by Supportive Housing of Waterloo Region. The research completed ethics review at the Community Research Ethics office in Waterloo, Ontario.
