Did you know that nutrition is often overlooked when preparing for a natural disaster?
About this event
The Hurricane Cookbook program provides one session of informational strategies to help you prepare meals and make nutrient-dense food choices during a natural disaster. This program will be led by the Family & Consumer Sciences program from N.C. Cooperative Extension Brunswick County Center.
The Hurricane Cookbook will offer two virtual sessions over Zoom. Each session is identical and will cover the same material. These sessions are offered for FREE to help you build confidence about preparing your pantry for a natural disaster.
The first session available is on Tuesday, April 13th from 2 pm-3:30 pm.
The second session available is on Wednesday, April 14th from 6 pm-7:30 pm.
Each session will provide:
- Education on the basics to prepare for a natural disaster with an emphasis on shelf-stable and nutrient-dense food items.
- Designing a pre-dietary shopping list for your emergency preparedness kit.
- Bingo board game activity with great food ideas for your pre-dietary emergency kit shopping list.
- Handouts, incentives, and other information will be mailed to participants!
