Event description

Description

Cannon Beach, Oregon is a classic seaside town with a character all its own. Nestled among 400 miles of Oregon coast designated as state parks, it offers the perfect location to hone our photography skills. We’ll start the adventure inland, taking a morning to explore Oneonta Gorge and Multnomah Falls, before we head to coast and Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach is known for its flat sandy beach, dominated by Haystack Rock, a 235 foot tall sea stack that can be seen for miles. Ecola State Park lies just to the north, with its stunning views and beaches, as well as a subtropical rain forest that offers its own photographic opportunities. We’ll explore several locations along the coast, including Hug Point, Arch Cape, and more. Conditions permitting, we’ll even have the opportunity to photograph an exposed shipwreck in nearby Fort Stevens State Park.

We’ll use these opportunities to work on the concepts of exposure, composition, subject development, filter use, low light photography, long exposures, color, and black and white. We will incorporate classroom instruction to review and critique images and introduce concepts for use at the next location. The Oregon coast is breathtaking and will provide an experience you won’t soon forget!
