Educational content offered in the training is intended to invest in the GFHP clinic staff professional development increasing their knowledge base related to human trafficking awareness, prevention and intervention, improving their competence in focusing on better health outcomes for their respective patient population.

Participant Objectives/Outcomes:

  1. Learn the federal and state legislation and laws that involve child sex trafficking
  2. Recognize signs and indicators of child sex trafficking
  3. Understand an accurate portrayal of a child sex trafficking victim and talking to the youth about the issue
  4. Understand and recognize the influence of social media within child sex trafficking
  5. Understand the process of supporting a child who has possibly been a victim of sex trafficking
  6. Understand the definition of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking
  7. Recognize signs of risk factors for a child sex trafficking victim
  8. Understand what to do to support a child sex traffic victim

Continuing Education:

The Georgia Board of Nursing deems Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) as an approved provider for continuing education (CE). This activity is approved for 3.0 contact hours towards the continuing education competency requirement for Georgia nursing licensure renewal. No partial credit offered. Activity #2019-04.
