About this event
Please join the Junior League of Portland (JLP) for our second annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day Event. This virtual, educational event will open with a welcome from our League President, followed by brief presentations that will expose the scope of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation happening in greater Portland. These presentations will directly address how youth pushed into the streets are at risk for trafficking, highlight that marginalized groups are disproportionately represented in trafficking, and directly address how the criminalization of Black girls can put them at risk for sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
The event will also feature an interview-style keynote presentation with two human trafficking survivors. They will inform attendees on their lived experiences, which will highlight how being pushed into the streets in their youth, directly put them at-risk for sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
The event will conclude by calling on attendees to help JLP in its efforts with a call-to-action to support the League's 9th Annual Essentials Drive, which collects undergarments and essential items to be distributed to Human Trafficking survivors through JLP’s Community Partners.
