About this event
FRONTLINE PBS, the Museum of Tolerance, and PBS Distribution are proud to present a Human Rights Day virtual screening and conversation on the importance of human rights and the freedom of the press.
In the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte has cracked down on news outlets critical of his brutal war on drugs. A top target: the chief executive of the independent news site Rappler, Maria Ressa, who is currently facing a second cyberlibel charge and is the subject of an upcoming FRONTLINE documentary, A Thousand Cuts.
On December 10th, we invite you to join an advanced screening and post-film discussion with Maria Ressa; the award-winning filmmaker Ramona Diaz (A Thousand Cuts); Liebe Geft, the director of the Museum of Tolerance; and FRONTLINE’s executive producer, Raney Aronson-Rath, who will provide the opening remarks. The conversation will focus on the ongoing fight for the integrity of human life and truth itself — a conflict that extends well beyond the Philippines.
The virtual event will include an audience Q&A and will be hosted on OVEE. You can learn more about OVEE and create a free account here.
