"Human Rights/Civil Rights: The Path Forward"

The agenda will be published here as more information is finalized. The event will feature panels of distinguished guests, elected officials, and other dynamic speakers that will cover such topics as (1) important legislation pending before the General Assembly, (2) hate crimes and other unlawful acts of bias, and (3) police/community relations. A free breakfast and lunch is available for all attendees.

About MAHRA: The Maryland Association of Human Relations/Human Rights Agencies is the association of law enforcement agencies throughout Maryland tasked with enforcing laws in and/or promoting civil rights, human rights, and human relations. These agencies are established by the State, the county, or the municipality in which they serve.

About the Civil Rights Coalition of Maryland: The Civil Rights Coalition of Maryland is a group of member organizations and leaders that work within the state to advance civil rights for all Marylanders, with a primary focus on government action. The Coalition will works for the establishment and enforcement of these rights in law, and for the realization of social and economic conditions in which the fulfillment of these rights is enhanced.

About the Coalition Opposed to Violence & Extremism (COVE): The Coalition Opposed to Violence and Extremism is an alliance of public and private civil rights organizations, community human relations, law enforcement, advocacy, religious and educational organizations in Maryland and the Washington, D.C. area. Founded in 1979, COVE pursues activities that oppose, resist and eliminate bigotry, prejudice, violence and extremism based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability. The organization is also committed to fostering an understanding and tolerance amongst diverse groups in the community.
