Event description

Description

Please join Barrick Gold, USCIB and Article One for a day-long Symposium exploring the human rights responsibilities of companies in cases of limited leverage including joint ventures without operating control, licensing agreements, franchise operators, and sponsorships.

The Symposium will bring together human rights leaders from business, civil society, and the public sector to discuss challenges and explore opportunities to advance respect for human rights and access to effective remedy in these business relationships with limited leverage. Specifically the Symposium will seek to:

  1. Clarify the boundaries of responsibility for companies in situations of limited leverage

  2. Clarify remedy responsibility in “contribute and linked to” cases

  3. Identify opportunities to increase leverage in business relationships

  4. Share relevant lessons and ideas across industries and business models to address the challenges associated with these types of business relationships, including in relation to remedy.
