Event description
Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover An evening of storytelling to break down stereotypes and encourage discussion

About this Event

Several Midland area community groups are partnering together to present the Human Library in an effort to make Midland a more inclusive and welcoming place for all people in the community. The event will encourage dialogue among community members and aim to break down stereotypes individuals may have against other people.

The Human Library Project is a global innovative and hands on learning platform where real people are on loan to readers. Members of the community will move from table to table to hear the stories of each ‘human book’. Topics are discussed openly and without condemnation. The Human Library is a Danish idea from 2000 and is now available in more than 80 countries. To learn more about the Human Library visit their website at https://humanlibrary.org/

The sponsors for this event are Dow Chemical Company, Cultural Awareness Coalition, Northwood University, Midland Kids First, The Legacy Center, Midland Inclusion Council, Our Community Listens, Midland Area Community Foundation and Women of Michigan Action Network.
