The Human Community Network December Gathering will continue the work of systemic change for a more just, peaceful, participatory, and sustainable Oklahoma. It is a time for creating transformative paths towards economic justice and care for the earth, civic participation, and diverse and inclusive community.
The focus of the December gathering will be on the work that the Human Community Network is doing in the area of Engaging Local Citizens in Oklahoma. We will explore how we can contribute to systemic change to enhance civic engagement for the sake of our human and ecological communities.
The Engaging Local Citizenry work group of the Human Community Network has worked together to identify voter participation, repealing State Question 640 (the law that requires 75% of both houses in the Oklahoma Legislature to raise taxes), and advocating Ranked Choice Voting in Oklahoma elections as three projects to explore. The Human Community Network December Gathering will begin the work of implementing these projects for systemic transformation in Oklahoma as part of our ongoing Oklahoma Project.
We look forward to our time together. There is hope in community.
