Anatomy & Physiology for Yoga with Dyana Wells

Dyana Wells, workshops

Two 8-week workshop series, Saturday afternoons, from March 2017

Theory with practical exploration provides a direct enquiry into the different systems of the body.

These courses offer an opportunity for students and teachers of yoga to increase their understanding of these system in relationship to yoga and other body practices.

Human Anatomy & Physiology: focus on the Organ Systems

Cells, connective tissue including fascia, cartilage and bones, plus muscle, digestive, cardiovascular, lymphatic and respiratory systems.

A detailed and fascinating investigation into the human body. Practical and experiential explorations in each session integrate and explore the material covered.

These workshop contain knowledge that is essential for all students and teachers of yoga. You will understand why you do what you do in yoga, you will understand why yoga is so good for your health, and how to increase its benefits.

I found it absolutely fascinating to learn how and why the body works as it does. Everything was relevant, Dyana related each and every aspect we covered right from the cells to how they relate to the practice of yoga. This knowledge will definitely make me a better teacher, and there are many ways that I will be able to integrate it into my teaching. I found Dyana really inspirational. – Juliet Slovgrove 2016

Anatomy is probably my favourite subject! Dyana is incredibly knowledgeable and shares her enthusiasm infectiously! Great combination of talk and practical. – Sarah Ford 2016

Dates: Mar 11, Mar 25, April 8, April 22, May 6, May 20, June 3, June 17.

Hours: Saturdays 1:30pm–4:30pm

Course of 8 workshops $300 (save $100).

Single Workshops $50.

Human Anatomy & Physiology: focus on Musculoskeletal Systems

Essential training for all students and teachers of yoga.

These workshops will enable students and teachers of yoga to increase their practical understanding of the musculoskeletal system in relation to the healthy and dysfunctional movement patterns of yoga. After these workshops you will be able to practice more effectively, kindly and with an informed curiosity about what is happening in your practice.

You will also understand why different kinds of breathing bring different physical and emotional benefits. There will be theory, model-making and exploratory practices to integrate and embody your learning.

Loved Dyana’s passion for this subject. Particularly in terms of muscular anatomy and the actions they cause. Great to be given the opportunity to look at a posture, work out the active (eccentric/concentric) muscles and their corresponding actions. Having the skeletons and plasticine helped to bring some of the muscles to “life” in terms of their origins, insertions, actions. – Katrina Tanner 2016

Course of 8 workshops $300 (save $100).

Single Workshops $50.

Dyana Wells - Yoga Teacher and Novelist

Dyana Wells has been studying and sharing Buddhist teachings and practice for over 25 years.

She shares meditations and wisdom teachings that support our journeying to a deeper understanding of who we are. She shares traditional practices that enable us to engage life with more passion and freedom. She encourages us to live the richness of the moment with complete dispassion.

Dyana explains: “Meditation is a way people have always quietened the minds to find their way to a deeper richer level of experience and wellbeing.

“The wellspring of life and truth lies within – as all the scriptures say it is closer to us than our hands and feet. Many of us have forgotten how to find our way there, we have forgotten the fullness of our natural state.”

Dyana offers clear teaching and guidance, which is practical, relevant and accessible. She offers a wealth of tools and techniques from her own training and study which are designed to suit every individual and situation.

Dyana has spent her life exploring deeply, both inner and outer worlds.

She had been an avid explorer all her life, in love with life, roaming mountain tops, tussock country, forests hung heavy with snow, wilderlands with vast river valleys rolling and snaking through boulders.

She has sailed the craggy, sandy treacherous coastline of New Zealand, and journeyed on the wings of her sail over the tumultuous ocean into the pacific.

Dyana has cycled bumpy backbones of our moody planet, determined to experience life in all her seasons. Her love of life is inexhaustible, and she brings this exuberance for life into her teaching and novels.
