Description

The art of hula places great importance on nature. Come explore Hawaiian culture's connection with the environment. Enjoy a hula demonstration and lesson, and learn how Hawaiians practice stewardship when gathering materials for leis and other adornments.

The event includes: Hula demonstration of kahiko and 'auana styles, an overview of hula basics and a simple hula kahiko lesson, discussion of Hula adornments (leis) and gathering of materials in nature, and the importance of nature to hula dancers.

Participants will also get to make a hands-on craft with the kukui nui to take home!
