Event description

Description

For our January BAD Moms event we will be partnering with Hugs and Bags San Diego. This is a hands on volunteer opportunity as we will be interacting with homeless youth and adults to provide clothing, a warm meal, basic medical services, haircuts and personal hygiene accessories.

You will be assigned a volunteer role upon arrival - greeters, clean up, check-in, arts & crafts, passing out food, clothing, toiletries, tear down/clean up etc. So there is a lot of opportunity to find a position that works best for you and your child(ren) based on their age.

Hugs and Bags is also in need of NEW childrens socks and underwear (boys and girls all / any sizes) so if you can and are willing to bring a package or two to your shift they would be extremely appreciative. Other items that they will take gently used are blankets, sweaters and pillows.

Hugs & Bags started as an idea to raise awareness for San Diego’s homeless population. The first event was hosted San Diego’s Queen Bee’s community center located in North Park. Over time with the leadership of Ms. Jacqueline Penhos and the dedication of countless volunteers this monthly event has grown from a concept to a love moment.

The goal of Hugs & Bags isn’t to give a hand-out but a hand-up to those that have fallen on hard times by providing all basic needs along with the human touch in the form of a hug. Our primary population has grown from Homeless Teens, Veterans to Immigrants, Single parents and anyone who may need assistance.

There are two shifts for this opportunity and each shift is limited to 25 people (moms and children).

Two shifts available (Please RSVP accordingly by selecting the proper ticket)
9am-11am and 11am - 1pm
