Event description
Dynamic opportunity to grow your professional and leadership skills, network, and give back to the Bay Area community!

About this Event

Who We Are: Huckleberry Youth Programs is a non-profit providing critical intervention and preventative care to underserved youth in the Bay.

We are guided by our mission to educate, inspire and support underserved youth to develop healthy life choices, to maximize their potential, and to realize their dreams.

In 1967, Huckleberry opened its flagship program, Huckleberry House, the first runaway youth shelter in the nation, at a time when running away as a youth was considered a crime. Fifty years later, we have grown to provide 6,000 youth annually with a continuum of services that remains rooted, just as it did in 1967, in the fundamental rights of young people to be safe, healthy, educated, and treated justly.

What We Do: Over the years, our services have grown to include primary and reproductive care, counseling, case management, health education, juvenile justice diversion, and college access to underserved youth and families. Huckleberry’s longevity is a testament to the agency’s values, and our ability to adapt and grow to meet the ever-changing needs of our community. Each year, Huckleberry hosts two major FUNdraisers along with smaller, socials gatherings like Cocktails for a Cause/bar nights, exclusive dining experiences and shows/performances.

What's the Huckleberry Young Professionals Board (HYPB)?: HYPB is a group of young professionals who are passionate about Huckleberry's mission and are interested in using their knowledge, skills, expertise and network to fundraise, organize volunteer events, raise awareness and mobilize support for Huckleberry. We run a major fundraising event/gala every Spring and host smaller fundraisers throughout the year (such as guest bartending at local bars for tips). We also are helping Huckleberry to create/run volunteer opportunities & build partnerships with our local corporations.

Why You Should Join the HYPB:

* Because Huckleberry's mission and HYPB's mission resonates with you

* Because you want to give back to an awesome cause

* To grow your professional development skills

* To sharpen your management and leadership skills

* To hang out/network with other community-conscious young professionals
