Hub LA Startup Workshops

March 29: Minimum Viable Product Workshop for Social Entrepreneurs and B Corps

April 26: Business Model Canvas Workshop for Social Entrepreneurs and B Corps

Presented by Hub LA and Paul Orlando, Founder of Startups Unplugged

10:00am-2:00pm

Join fellow entrepreneurs founding high impact ventures and starting B Corps for these hands-on workshops on how to effectively create your Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and how to build your Business Model Canvas. You will receive custom instruction, and be able to apply the learning during the workshop to further develop your venture.

Please bring your laptop to the workshops. Snacks will be provided.

WORKSHOP 1: MVP WORKSHOP (MARCH 29)

A Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is a version of a service or product that enables you to gain validated learning while spending the minimum amount of resources. You may have heard about the MVP from lean startup or customer development methodology. It’s a method that is often talked about — yet often misunderstood. That’s why this workshop exists. The workshop includes:

-A set of readings to prepare you.

-Explanation of different types of MVPs.

-Examples from successful MVPs as a way to brainstorm MVPs you could try.

-How to design MVP experiments and collect data.

-Using metrics, such as AARRR (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue), Split-testing and Cohort Metrics as decision-making tools longer-term.

-How this fits with Social Impact.

WORKSHOP 2: BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS WORKSHOP (APRIL 26)

The Business Model Canvas is a tool that helps you think through the way your business serves customers, creates value and sustains itself. In this workshop, we will use the canvas developed by Alex Osterwalder. The workshop includes:
-A set of readings to prepare you.
-Introduction to the Business Model Canvas. Focus will be on the Customer Segment, Value Proposition, Channels, Revenue and Cost boxes.
-How different companies have thought through (or sometimes not thought through) their business model.
-Why this is an iterative process.
-How this fits with Social Impact.

Each workshop is $30 for Hub LA members and $59 for non-members.

Please bring your laptop to the workshops!
