The HTML5 Tools Jam is a game-jam-style event where we focus on building tools for HTML5 game development. These could range from tutorials to level editors, and will probably include boilerplates, quick-start guides, audio and canvas tag demonstrations, managers, and libraries, and much more. We will also provide a list of possible projects for people who show up but don't know exactly what to make.
This is a great opportunity for us to teach each other what we know and learn together at a rapid pace while building real tools to help our peers and others get started with HTML5 game development. In particular, we will focus on building tools that help people "game jam" with HTML5 tech at future events.
January 8th and 9th, 2011
Saturday: 9am - 11:55pm
Sunday: 9am - 4pm (development); 4pm - 6pm (presentations)
After presentations on Sunday we'll split off into dinner groups ad-hoc (though it's likely we'll all end up at CBC together, anyway) and there will be much celebrating.
For more information about the event itself, check out its official page on the Boston Game Jams blog: http://bostongamejams.com/game-jams/html5-tools-jam-2011/
Computers are limited. If you have your own laptop to bring, please do so. Thanks. :)
I'm new to game jams, what's the deal? We'll be making tools this time? What if I'm not a programmer?
Answers to these questions and more are on the official jam page event page on bostongamejams.com.
