The Christian Soldier: Warfare in the Two Kingdoms

A Higher Things® Youth Retreat

February 21-22, 2019

Is war always a bad thing? Is it ok to be a soldier? Are there good things to fight for? What role does my conscience play in deciding? Where do I fit into all of this as a Lutheran? Looking at Romans 13 and the Church’s Confessions Rev. Dr. Harold Ristau will talk about the vocation of soldier within the structure of God given authority as well as the responsibilities every Christian has to protect and serve their neighbour. He will also discuss the ways in which Christians equip themselves with the armour of God for the spiritual warfare in the daily battles within a World that is hostile to the Faith.

Rev. Dr. Harold Ristau is an Assistant Professor of Theology at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary – St. Catharines, Ontario and a former Chaplain and Major in the Canadian Armed Forces who has deployed to the Middle East on several occasions and has spoken widely on the ethics of war and soldiering.
