This lunchtime presentation by Marc Ayers, Illinois State Director of the Humane Society of the United States, will provide a brief overview of the HSUS and recap major legislative achievements. Topics will include the recent ban on ivory sales in Illinois, as well as potential changes to bobcat hunting laws in the state. He will also discuss additional pending and future legislation to be introduced over the fall and spring legislative sessions in the Illinois General Assembly.

Marc Ayers is the Illinois State Director for the Humane Society of the United States, the nation's largest animal protection organization. He’s in charge of all aspects of animal welfare, from companion animals and equines to farm animal protection and wildlife. Marc has been the State Director in Illinois over three years. Before coming to HSUS, Marc was the Policy Director for the Environment and Rural Affairs at the Lieutenant Governor’s Office where he led the Office in policy formation and analysis. Marc combines his legislative and policy experience with his passion for animals to advance animal protection in the state of Illinois.
