“From the Cold War to The Space Race: Science, Technology, And Society In Southern California”

The HSSC 2018 conference has a theme of “From the Cold War to The Space Race: Science, Technology, and Society in Southern California.” Sessions will begin at 9:00am with the welcome and keynote. The Keynote/2018 Dunning Featured Speaker is Becky Nicolaides, Center for the Study of Women, UCLA, who will talk about “Rethinking the Dream: Old and New Frameworks for Understanding Suburban Life in Southern California after 1950.”
Other sessions will include: "Remembering Southern California’s Aerospace Era,""Roundtable: Postwar Civic Architecture: Pomona’s Civic," "Community Building and Cultural Movements in Postwar Southern California," "War, Antiwar, and Cold War: The Vietnam Era in Southern California," and "Private-Public Partnerships in the Cold War." Lunch will include the presentation of the 2017 HSSC awards. Lunch is available as as add-on after your select a registration option. The cost of lunch is $20.
Pre-registration is available until February 3, 2018. On-site registration rates will be higher.
